Where are you from?

A. 生活化、口語化的說法

• "Where are you from?"

B. 客氣、有禮貌的說法

• "May I ask where you're from?"

C. 中文學習者容易犯的錯誤

❌ 錯誤："Where is your place?" 你的地方在哪裡？

錯誤點及解釋：

• 中式英語直譯「你的地方」，雖然語法正確但表達不自然
• your place 在英語中通常指「你的住處/家」，而非「你來自哪裡」
• 詢問出身地應該用 Where are you from? 而非詢問地點位置
• 語意模糊，可能被理解為詢問具體住址

❌ 錯誤："Which country you are?" 你是哪個國家？

錯誤點及解釋：

• 疑問句語法錯誤，缺少助動詞 do，應為 Which country are you from?
• 語序錯誤，疑問詞後應為「助動詞+主語+動詞」結構
• you are 在此語境下不完整，需要介詞 from
