基本差異

Because:

• 詞性: 連接詞 (conjunction)
• 用法: 連接兩個子句 (兩個完整句子)
• 後接: 一個完整的句子，包含主詞和動詞

Because of:

• 詞性: 介系詞片語 (prepositional phrase)
• 用法: 引導一個名詞片語
• 後接: 名詞、代名詞或動名詞 (gerund)，不是完整的句子

中文學習者容易犯的錯誤

❌ "I can't go to school because of I am sick."

• 錯誤："because of" 後面接了完整句子
• 正確："I can't go to school because I am sick." 或 "I can't go to school because of my illness."

❌ "Because the rain, the game was cancelled."

• 錯誤："because" 後面直接接了名詞
• 正確："Because it was raining, the game was cancelled." 或 "Because of the rain, the game was cancelled."

正確用法

Because (接完整子句)

✅ "I stayed home because I was feeling sick." 「我待在家因為我感到不舒服。」

• 說明：because 後面跟著完整句子 "I was feeling sick"（包含主詞和動詞）

✅ "She couldn't attend the meeting because her car broke down." 「她不能參加會議因為她的車壞了。」

• 說明：because 後面跟著完整句子 "her car broke down"

Because of (接名詞片語)

✅ "I stayed home because of my illness." 「我待在家因為我的病。(我因為有病而待在家)」

• 說明：because of 後面跟著名詞 "my illness"

✅ "The flight was delayed because of bad weather." 「航班因壞天氣而延誤。」

• 說明：because of 後面跟著名詞片語 "bad weather"

常用/日常表達

非正式用法:

• "I'm tired because I stayed up late." (because + 完整句)
  「我很累因為我熬夜了。」
• "I'm tired because of lack of sleep." (because of + 名詞片語)
  「我很累因為缺乏睡眠。」

正式用法:

• "The project was delayed because several key components were unavailable." (because + 完整句)
  「該專案被延遲，因為幾個關鍵元件無法取得。」
• "The project was delayed because of supply chain disruptions." (because of + 名詞片語)
  「該專案因供應鏈中斷而延遲。」
